چکیده
Neonatal sepsis is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality among neonates worldwide. World Health Organization has estimated that 1.6 million deaths occur globally every year due to neonatal infections and 40% of all neonatal deaths occur in developing countries (WHO report 2006). In India, the incidence of blood culture proven sepsis was reported as 8.5 per 1,000 live births for the year 2002–2003 by the National Neonatal Perinatal Database (NNPD report 2002-03). Most of the neonatal sepsis related deaths are preventable if suspected early and treated with appropriate antibiotics. Neonatal sepsis is broadly categorized into early and late International Journal of Current Microbiology and Applied Sciences ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 4 Number 10 (2015) pp. 977-984 http://www.ijcmas.com

BACKGROUND Neonatal septicaemia is an important cause of morbidity and mortality. Knowledge of the bacteriological profile of the aetiologic agents is very important and helps to reduce the associated mortality in neonatal septicaemia. OBJECTIVE To determine the bacteriological profile of common aetiologic agents of neonatal septicaemia and their antibiotics sensitivity pattern. METHOD This...

Introduction: responsible for approximately 25% of all neonatal deaths in the world. Neonates are at increased risk of contracting infections due to immature immune system. It is difficult in these babies because the clinical features of sepsis are subtle in these neonates. Culture and sensitivity remains the gold standard test to diagnose and treat neonates in this situation. Moreover knowledg...

Introduction: This study is aimed to compare phenotypic test methods and determine antibiotic susceptibility pattern of AmpC beta-lactamase producing uropathogenic Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae in clinical isolates. Method: E. coli and K. pneumoniae were identified by standard microbiological procedures. Screening of AmpC beta-lactamase production was done by using cefoxitin disc (...
